City of Tampa and local nonprofits ask restaurants to donate unused food to feed the needy
Since Governor Ron Desantis’ March 20 executive order, Florida restaurants and dining establishments have been operating on a delivery and carryout only basis, meaning no guests can eat on site.
According to a press release, the City has partnered with Metropolitan Ministries and Feeding Tampa Bay, two local nonprofits, to help collect and donate unused food from local restaurants.
“This is a challenging time for both our residents and our businesses, but by coming together, thinking of our neighbors, and donating what we can, we can minimize hunger in our community and ensure basic needs are being met,” said Tampa Mayor Jane Castor.
