20,000 families will come to us for help this holiday season
Join the #HopeCountdown
The holidays are a joyous time, but not for families in need or those who are homeless. No food to prepare. No gifts to be given. Metropolitan Ministries once again aims to change this for 20,000 families for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and preparations are now underway.
Why the #HopeCountdown?
No one should go without a Thanksgiving or Christmas if we can do something about it.
The need has grown (18,000 families were helped in 2017) due to the elongated hardships of hurricanes Irma and Maria and lack of affordable housing for those living on a fixed income or low wages. During the months of October through December, the Ministries sees a 20% jump in those seeking services at our outreach family resource centers—that’s more than 3,000 families a month. This is in addition to those seeking holiday assistance.
Call to Action
Metropolitan Ministries needs the Tampa Bay community’s help. If we all come together, every one of our neighbors in need can have a holiday. Please donate the most needed nonperishable items: cereal, potatoes, rice, beans, yams, stuffing, and of course turkeys. The Ministries asks the community to join their “hope countdown” campaign to serve those who are suffering with food boxes, hot meals, toys for children, and most of all HOPE.
The “hope countdown” is now underway and runs through December 24, 2018.
Visit www.metromin.org/holiday-central for more information on how to get involved by hosting a donation drive, volunteering, or making a financial donation. Or, if you need help.
