Groceries

The Metro Market is located inside our Family Support Center and stocks fresh produce, breads, meats, pantry staples and clothing. You can visit once per month and must have the ability to store and cook food at home. The market is open from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. weekdays at our Downtown Tampa and West and East Pasco locations. On Tuesdays the market is open from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. at our Downtown Tampa and West Pasco location only. 

Requirements

A utility bill, lease agreement or rental receipt, in addition to, an assessment and evaluation are required to determine eligibility. Families who are living with someone else need a note from the person they are living with stating the food can be stored and safely cooked at the verified address. A copy of that person’s utility bill, lease, or rental receipt is required.

Emergency Shelter

Are you at risk of becoming homeless, or are you homeless and need shelter? Apply now for emergency shelter. Once your application is submitted, an intake specialist will contact the phone number or email provided on your application.

Our emergency shelter programs are in Hillsborough and Pasco counties are designed for households with children and single women.

Affordable Housing/SabalPlace

SabalPlace is an affordable housing community in Seffner, Fla. This garden-style community consists of 112 units with open floorplans, kitchen islands, large closets, and energy efficient appliances.  Amenities include a gathering room, ballet room with fitness equipment, splash pad, activity room, on-site laundry, and more. Please email sabalplace@carteretmgmt.com or call (813) 324-7661 regarding leasing inquiries.

You’ll have the full support of Metropolitan Ministries at SabalPlace with case managers on-site to help navigate community resources.

Metropolitan Ministries Rent and Utility Assistance

Metropolitan Ministries offers financial assistance on a daily first-come-first-served basis with rent, mortgage, and utilities while funding lasts. Not all inquiries will qualify. All applications require proof of financial hardship, including documented loss of employment, furlough, reduction of hours, or approved unemployment applications. Only one application per household (addresses are verified) is permitted.

For East Pasco County Only: Prevention Appointments are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Pre registration is required. Appointments can only be made three days out from the current date. Please click the link below to register.

PromiseLand Early Learning Center

We strive to provide excellence in childcare and education by creating an environment that enables children to thrive socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically.

C.R.E.A.T.E.

C.R.E.A.T.E. (Children’s Recreational, Education, Arts, and Therapeutic Experience) provides a safe place for your school-age children to express themselves, extend their creativity, and realize full potential. This afterschool program is staffed by therapeutic specialists and registered behavioral technicians.

Students engage in therapeutic activities designed around a social-emotional curriculum. This fosters behavioral development and alleviates distress a child may be experiencing.

Four Steps to Enroll

  1. Ask for a school readiness voucher from case management.
  2. Pick up an enrollment packet from the PromiseLand Early Childhood Education Center at 175 E Frances Ave., Tampa, FL 33602.
  3. Return the completed enrollment packet and school readiness voucher to the PromiseLand Early Childhood Education Center.
  4. Call (813) 209-1247 to schedule an appointment with the C.R.E.A.T.E. staff.

ParentChild+

ParentChild+ is a national early learning program for Hillsborough County children ages 2-3. This program helps develop your child’s reading and early learning skills at home for school readiness and life success. An Early Learning Specialist will visit once a week for 23 weeks bringing a book or toy that is free for the family to keep each week. These visits and gifts will help prepare your child for future success.

Child Development Screening

We offer free at-home developmental screenings for children ages 0-5. These screenings help parents assess how their child is developing in few key areas, such as communication and social skills. Participating families will receive free developmental books and toys and may also be referred to additional resources, if necessary. If you would like your child to participate in this free assessment, please click the link to request more information.

BayCare Kids Mobile Medical Clinic

Children must be 18 years old or younger and have Medicaid, no health insurance or are Native American or Alaskan Native. We can’t see children who have Florida KidCare or private health insurance. First Hug / Community Base Supportive Case Management

First Hug ensures that Hillsborough County children between ages 0-middle school are ready to learn and succeed by helping to alleviate family stress.

Your case manager will meet with your family weekly at home and use trauma-informed techniques to create a personalized plan for you and your children.

First Hug case managers provide free developmental screens to assess children’s readiness to learn (ages 0-5); resources to assure your children are ready for school; and will help you build a positive relationship with your child(ren). Plus, they can help identify safe housing options and connect you to job placement services. Sign up for First Hug and reduce the impact of stress and trauma on your family.

The Metropolitan Ministries Thrift Store features affordable clothing, furniture, appliances, and more from its storefront at 2101 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33602 in historic Tampa Heights. All proceeds go back to helping homeless and at-risk families across the Tampa Bay area. Store hours are weekdays 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Closed on Sunday. Pathways to Hope

Pathways to Hope is a homeless prevention program that provides support to families who are experiencing economic instability and/or housing insecurity. The program is designed to provide support to families based on their personal, social, and community networks’ strengths and is specially tailored to each family based on their current situation and needs. The goal is to assist families with attaining housing stability.

Counseling & Resiliency Center

Our Counseling & Resiliency Center provides counseling and support services to individuals and families in the community who may not have access to mental health services due to costs. Adults, children (ages 7 and up), and families are welcome. *You do not have to be a Metropolitan Ministries client to receive services.*
