Pressing on toward HOPE

How you helped a single mother reunite with her children

Maria kept replaying the worst day of her life in her head. She would never forget when Child Protective Services came to remove her children from her care.

Out of options and desperate to reunite with her kids, Maria walked through Metro’s doors.

“I knew I had to prove my ability to provide a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for my children,” says Maria. “I was determined to do whatever it took to bring them home.”

Maria isn’t the only mother in our community who is struggling to provide for and protect her children. Too many single moms are silently suffering — living out of cars, fleeing domestic abuse, and going to sleep hungry.

They’re afraid to ask for help because they don’t want to be seen as unfit mothers and risk their children being taken from their care.

But because you give, Maria and other single mothers find the compassion, resources, and stability they and their children desperately need.

Maria took advantage of the parenting classes you help make possible at Metro, including the Circle of Security (COS) Program — designed to help parents overcome hurdles and respond to their children’s needs with safety, love, and security.

Through the COS Program, Maria recognized the significance of her role in her children’s lives. With each day, she became more confident as a mother and more determined to reunite with her family. By the time Maria completed the program, she had not only met the court’s requirements, but also transformed her approach to parenting.

Maria’s dedication paved the way to a day she never thought would come — reuniting with her children.

“I couldn’t have done this without you. The parenting classes taught me so much about what it means to be a good mom. I feel more connected to my children than ever before, and I know I’m giving them the love and security they need,” says Maria. Her daughter, through happy tears, says, “I can’t believe how far we’ve made it.”

Your generosity helps a family move beyond painful pasts and step into lasting stability and hope. Thank you for protecting vulnerable children, keeping families together, and helping neighbors break the cycle of poverty!
